Hello! My name is Dr. Mary Hakimeh, PsyD. I am an evidence-based psychologist. My approach to therapy is a combination of space to help you process, as well as gentle guidance to help encourage you to reach your goals.
My approach
I consider myself more client-centered and tailor my treatment approach and style to each individual. However, my most common theoretical approaches are a combination of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Attachment-based perspectives.
My focus
I have experience working with clients from many different backgrounds and presentations, ranging from grief to trauma to depression. My main clinical interests are working with clients exploring their identity, those with relationship problems, and anxiety.
My communication style
I spend some time early on working to get to know you and understand you. The early visits may consist of more listening but follow-up questions that help me understand you better. As we carry on, I may provide more gentle guidance or challenge you in order to help shift your perspective and help you reach your goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been interested in understanding human behavior and what makes us tick! It is a gift to be able to walk alongside individuals seeking support and be a safe space to share your story.
My goals for you
An overall goal is paramount to leading the therapy, even if it's as simple as "I want to improve in my relationships." In our initial visits, we will discuss together your goals and what it would look like to achieve them and collaborate together to help you reach your goals.
My first session with you
The initial visit may look a little different as I ask some background questions to get to know you.
