Tim Flaharty is an existential counselor who focuses on finding meaning in life's struggles. He tends to be drawn toward clients who have the desire to develop a deeper sense of understanding about themselves and their relationships with others.
My approach
Initially, you and I will explore patterns of thinking and behavior, identify your motivations behind behaviors that do not healthily support you, and then develop a reasonable plan for collaboratively addressing the thoughts and behaviors. Finally, we will discuss ways to develop motivation for the new behaviors, follow through with short-term goals weekly, and monitor for change.
My focus
I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, self-esteem, stress, and substance use.
My communication style
The most powerful skill a counselor may provide for clients is being present with them when they are working through life's challenging moments. In my career, the greatest achievements occur when you feel that I genuinely understand you. Through this understanding, I hope to walk with you through the painful moments, which may lead to a more prosperous life overall.
My journey to mental healthcare
From October 2017 to December 2019, I completed my clinical hours for licensure at College Hospital in Costa Mesa, CA, and Twin Town Treatment Centers in Los Alamitos, CA.
My goals for you
Through our work together, I hope to help you create a plan for a fulfilled life.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will begin exploring your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to develop an initial understanding of your situation and start collaboratively planning our approach.
