Healing is a natural process but when difficult emotions and behaviors interfere with healing, I assist clients with identifying paths to reestablish improved well-being and achieve an enhanced quality of life.
My approach
I utilize an eclectic approach to assist clients to learn coping strategies and heal from their experiences. Through the use of cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic theoretical approaches, I work with clients to reduce and manage symptoms and problems such as anxiety, depression, impulsivity, strained personal and/or professional relationships, changed sleeping or eating behaviors, poor school or work performance, moodiness, difficulty making decisions, feelings of indifference, physiological changes such as headaches, digestive troubles, muscle tension, lowered energy level, and/or using alcohol or other substances to alter emotions.
My focus
I am passionate about helping individual clients live happy and fulfilling lives. My specialties include anger management, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, parenting, self-esteem, stress, and trauma/PTSD.
My communication style
In our sessions, I will listen with empathy and without judgment. My communication style is direct yet compassionate. I aim to create a safe space where you feel supported in sharing your experiences and emotions. Together, we will work to identify patterns, develop coping strategies, and find paths toward healing and enhanced well-being.
My journey to mental healthcare
I graduated with my Master's Degree in Social Work in 1991. The foundation of my training and experience has been with individuals working to heal from traumatizing experiences, loss, and overall major life adjustment issues. I completed my clinical hours for licensure from January 1995 to January 1997 under the supervision of Rachel Thomas in Castaic, CA.
My goals for you
Unaddressed emotions can underlie and undermine the feeling of overall well-being. My goal is to assist you in learning coping strategies and healing from your experiences to reduce symptoms, improve your relationships and overall functioning, and achieve an enhanced quality of life.
