I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, but I frequently integrate CBT in my practice—not only because it's evidence-based, but also because I find it can boost a client's confidence and build momentum toward future goals. CBT tends to be a shorter-term approach (often 8-20 sessions) with frequent check-ins along the way.
My focus
I have worked in several clinical settings, including community colleges and community counseling centers. Many of my clients seek treatment for anxiety, depression, and relationship issues, including people who aren't necessarily in acute distress, but want to understand themselves and their relationship dynamics more deeply.
My approach
I incorporate techniques that build awareness and encourage clients to gain greater insight into their relationships. We will likely examine thought patterns, challenge assumptions, and track how certain situations trigger specific emotions. I endeavor to help clients address thoughts that may be at the root of self-doubt or low self-esteem.
