Hello, my name is Grace Usigbe. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 10 years of experience in behavioral health practices. I am committed to helping families and individuals in overcoming life's struggles and challenges in a collaborative manner. I am experienced in assisting clients with depression, anxiety, trauma-related issues, family conflict, work relatedwork-related stressors, and relational conflicts.
My approach
The needs and expectations of each client are always the focus of therapy. Using a whole-person approach, collaboratively we will explore tools to help with solutions to the needs presented. I offer a brief solution approach and prefer to focus on the here and now. Common theoretical tools and interventions that will be used include Solution-focused therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and others as needed to address the presenting symptoms.
My focus
The focus of my clientele is adolescents, adults, and families. Helping families and individuals in overcoming life's struggles and challenges in a collaborative manner. I am experienced in assisting clients with depression, anxiety, trauma-related issues, family conflicts, work-related stressors, and relational conflicts.
My communication style
Clients are made to feel comfortable upon entry into therapy, collaboratively we will identify areas that need change or growth. Empowering clients to actively participate in their own sessions and confronting negative thoughts and beliefs fueling the symptoms identified. Clients will be encouraged to reflect and take ownership of their growth while in therapy and onwards.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people struggling with mental health issues, relational conflicts, and other stressors inhibiting the ability to function at an optimum level in their daily lives. As an LMFT, I have had the privilege of working with clients with various mental health issues, relational conflict issues, and clients experiencing psychosis in an acute psychiatric facility. Seeing people overcome their difficulties and navigate life despite past traumas has always been rewarding for me.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is building trust and collaboratively working with clients by focusing on the issues presented in the session, and choosing achievable and realistic paths to making change.
My first session with you
Clients should expect a safe and supportive therapeutic environment that can foster the exploration of mental health issues and other problems that are causing distress in life's pursuit. Clients will be provided an overview of what to expect during each therapy session, limitations of confidentiality, goal setting, and treatment plan that will adequately address the presenting problems identified.
