Hello, my name is Dion Smith and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I focus on individuals and couples who are dealing with the everyday struggles of life. I strive to create a warm and collaborative approach to meet individual Client needs.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is best described as eclectic to assist with meeting various client needs. I have a background in cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered focus therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
My focus
I work with individuals from teens to the elderly and couples. I work with anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, relationship issues, trauma, and life coaching. My goal is to assist my clients with developing the skills to navigate and overcome the various life challenges with we all face.
My communication style
I offer a comfortable, supportive environment that allows you to be your genuine self. With a conversational approach, I will spend time getting to know you, listening patiently and attentively to your concerns to determine the best path forward.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to pursue becoming a therapist after my experience working in corporate America. I found that people were always comfortable discussing details about themselves with me without prompting. I also found that I could work with people who were considered difficult to work with in my workspace. Some of my gifts include patience and the ability to explain difficult situations in a common language.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is to work together to determine the best path forward. We will spend time sharing about your background and core issues to help with setting appropriate and achievable goals in our therapy sessions. As you progress in treatment, we will continue to collaborate to adjust your goals as needed.

During the first session, you can expect for us to share about your background and issues that have you seeking therapy at this time. I will gather relevant background information to use to assist with developing a diagnosis and framework for treatment.
