My communication style

Active listening and being realistic are keys to my communication style, which can be direct and assertive. I feel that I can relate to people of all nationalities and all types. Teaching interpersonal effectiveness is an area in which I feel competent. I can teach others communication skills and relationship management skills.

My journey to mental healthcare

For the first 15+ years of my career, I provided case management and general social services from a wide variety of outpatient and inpatient settings. Over the past eight years, I’ve been providing mostly individual therapy and feel that I have found my niche and my calling.

My goals for you

Developing treatment plan goals should be led by the client and narrowed by the client and therapist. Using a narrowing strategy to develop treatment plan goals is typical for me. I tend to like to use numbers to display improvement or desired change. Examples are endless, yet increasing sleep, and or decreasing verbal outbursts are two examples.

Our first session

The first session is always gathering information in the form of evaluation and assessment. I believe in starting where a client is, as well as providing additional resources. I feel that people will feel open and comfortable with me during our sessions. Trust and rapport are important and essential to the therapeutic process. Let’s build it!
