Hello, My name is Javon Kemp and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over 12 years in the mental health field. I would consider it an honor to join you in your process of recovering the pieces of your life that were lost or misplaced during the shuffle. I have a passion for working with individuals who have challenges in the areas of anxiety, relationships, depression, trauma, anger, coaching, and communication.
My approach
My goal is to provide a nonjudgmental, genuine, and compassionate environment that will be conducive to the development of coping strategies that will yield residual positive results. I have used mainly an eclectic approach including DBT, CBT, SFT, PCT, and parts of other theoretical approaches when appropriate.
My focus
I have experience in treating individuals who have challenges with depressive and anxiety symptoms, anger management, life transitions, marital conflict, familial relationships, and parenting strategies.
My communication style
My aim is to create an environment that is conducive to healing, processing, and growth. My approach is non-judgmental, genuine, and compassionate.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always had a passion to help individuals who struggled with the transitions of life, mental anguish, looking for answers that were seemingly outside of themselves, and realizing their ideal selves. I believe that my life's call is to provide this bread of healing and recovery to those who have been stuck in a stage of hunger for more 'life'.
My goals for you
I work diligently with each client to set specific, measurable, attainable, and relevant goals with identified timeframes when these are appropriate. While this has proven to be effective, my approach is not rigid. Each individual served will be provided with a set of interventions tailored to their needs.
My first session with you
The first session is used to provide informed consent, gather historical information, and build rapport. Once these are done, I will explore the client's goals for treatment.
