You are the expert in your own life and my goal is to assist you in becoming the best version of yourself! I was attracted to the field of Clinical Social work due to being raised in a well-traveled military family. This background taught me not only to appreciate human diversity but to expect it as a norm. I received my Master of Social Work degree from California State University Northridge; graduating with distinction in 2012. I obtained my Clinical social work license to independently practice psychotherapy In 2017. Since 2013 I have provided therapeutic services and life coaching to adults, adolescents, and children with a variety of mental health, grief, relational, substance addiction, and community service needs.
My approach
As the expert in your own life, I will partner with you to develop practical steps to help you address symptoms, patterns, and challenges that may be hindering you. My theoretical framework is strength-based (you've got this!) and whole-person-centered (biological, psychological, social, and spiritual). I utilize evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Trauma Focused Therapy (TFCBT). I also teach/use various calming techniques and mindfulness meditations with my clients.
My focus
If you are ready to roll up your sleeves and dive in then I am your person. I will listen, empathize, provide insights; challenge, encourage and celebrate you! You are the change you have been waiting for! I have experience working with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, substance addiction, relational challenges, esteem issues, processing loss, parenting issues, and the impact of family dysfunction.
My communication style
My communication style is direct, motivational, and collaboratively explorative. I often use my hands and facial expressions to illustrate concepts. I am deeply empathic and at times a bit goofy. I am open, down to earth, and natural in my approach.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always worked with teens in the community as a volunteer. Eventually, I also started to mentor women as I worked on my own family-of-origin issues. After experiencing so much freedom through my own healing and growth I wanted to support others on their journey.
My goals for you
When you bring more success stories than problems to sessions; when the light returns to your eyes and your smile more often; when you begin to attend sessions with less frequency because you are out living your best life..... then I know you are successful!
My first session with you
Our first session will be an informal opportunity for us to become acquainted and address any of your questions or concerns.
