Hi there, I'm Takinia!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's degree in Social Work from Tulane University School of Social Work. I completed my Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Sociology and Political Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I have over 17 years of clinical therapy and social work experience. I began my career serving as a clinical therapist for children, teens, and young adults and transitioned to providing HIV/AIDS counseling and support. Eventually, I began working with Veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs providing clinical and psychiatric support through psychotherapy, emergency crisis interventions, and suicide risk management. My areas of expertise include stress, anxiety and depression, grief and loss, family/relationship issues, and personal growth. I especially enjoy working with teens and adults. I utilize a strength-based, person-centered multidimensional approach to therapy—exploring each individual’s biological, psychological, and social needs. I have been trained in Trauma Focused Narrative Therapy and desire to work alongside my clients to assist them in healing from trauma, building self-worth, improving communication in their relationships, and reaching their goals through support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.
