Hi there, I'm Phillip!

I believe change is possible in a supportive environment where trust between therapist and client can flourish. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, panic disorder, depression, complex trauma, loss, LGBTQ+ issues, and grief.

My focus

I work especially frequently with gay and queer-identified men, but I enjoy working with people of all identities: men, women, queer, straight, non-binary/trans/cis, BIPOC, body acceptance/positivity/neutrality/dysmorphia, and social justice issues.

My approach

I meet each client where they are and adjust my tone and style to your preferences and comfort level. Our dynamic will be unique to you. I am authentically myself and aim for you to feel comfortable and safe. I will gently reflect what I'm seeing and hearing, always with care and openness to feedback. This is a partnership.

I am typically upbeat, warm, and talkative. My aim is for sessions to feel collegial, friendly, safe, caring, and supportive.

My journey to mental healthcare

I went through tough stuff as a child and experienced therapy from a young age. I've always had reverence for the work and its potential when it's a good fit. I loved volunteering in HIV testing and counseling, providing support for anxious people. This led me to combine my love of storytelling with supporting people in their therapeutic journey.

My goals for you

I'm flexible with goal setting. Not everyone shows up to therapy with a clear presenting issue, and there's permission to take time to identify what you'd like to work on. If you know precisely what your goals are, we can get to work on those.

Just a light, warm, safe experience. I'll be curious about you and want to find out what has brought you to therapy at this time. I'll want to know as much about your background as you feel comfortable sharing and will be happy to answer any questions you may have about how this process works.
