I am a mixed-race, African American, post-divorce mother. I seek peace and show the way to peace. I have spent decades motivating adolescents and their families to overcome obstacles and succeed.

My focus

I work with adolescents and families navigating delinquency, family conflict, and behavioral challenges. I listen to young people and validate their search for meaning. I give grace and know there is always a reason for behavior. I help families do system work to gain harmony.

My approach is listening, learning, and collaborating. I work to understand what you want and provide a safe place to explore your issues. I offer evidence-based clinical perspectives and empower you to move forward.

My communication style

I create a calm, non-threatening environment devoid of judgment. I listen to understand and communicate that you take the lead on problem-solving. You know best what you need to heal. My role is to be humble and offer guidance and feedback when asked.

My journey to mental healthcare

I am the child of a mentally ill mother and a survivor of abuse. I had wonderful experiences with healing providers and became one in gratitude. I have worked in foster care, adoption, family preservation, probation, and team building.

My goals for you

Beginning sessions are to understand the client and the presenting discomfort. The middle sessions are to formulate evidence-based strategies and solutions that resonate with the client. The subsequent sessions will involve practice, adjustments, encouragement, and empowerment to continue on one's own.
