Hi there, I'm Leah!

Congrats on taking the first step in initiating therapy. It is not easy. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, over 15 years as a social worker, and over 24 years of military service.

My focus

I specialize in helping people who are experiencing adjustment difficulties, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and burnout.

My approach

I have always believed in meeting people where they are at. I have found that being clear, genuine, and down-to-earth in communication is the most effective way to create positive change. I am going to keep it real.

My communication style

I would describe my communication style as approachable and authentic. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel supported and comfortable. I take a calm and empathetic approach, giving you space to express yourself openly while guiding you gently through your challenges.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have always been drawn to the helping professions. I enlisted over 20 years ago in the US Army and was trained as a Mental Health Specialist. Serving in hospitals and supporting people during their most difficult times solidified my decision to dedicate my career to psychological health.

My goals for you

I believe that the client is the expert in knowing themselves. I approach goal setting by seeking to understand and clarify your values and vision, identifying challenges, developing SMART goals, celebrating small wins, and reassessing and adjusting goals as needed.

Our first session

During the first session, you will be in the driver’s seat. You can tell me about yourself and what brought you to therapy. You will have space to express your goals and expectations, and you will learn about the therapeutic process, limits of confidentiality, and boundaries.
