Hello, my name is Nicole Kriz. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have experience working in both in and out-patient settings and take a collaborative approach when working with my clients.
My approach
My goals are to create a safe and supportive environment for all my clients, while they increase their level of self-understanding and self-awareness. I take a collaborative approach to help guide clients toward their desired goals and achieve sustainable change.
My focus
I have a passion for working with young and older adults, couples, and families in order to assist them in developing and utilizing the necessary coping skills to manage and thrive during difficult times, life transitions, and through needed change.
My communication style
Therapy should feel like a safe environment, therefore I try to create a comfortable rapport with my clients through tone and dialog to provide empathy and validation while still challenging change and growth.
My journey to mental healthcare
I've always enjoyed listening and helping others from a young age, especially in regard to relational dynamics. In undergrad, I decided to explore psychology and human sexuality and further learned the importance of healthy relationships, communication, and a healthy sense of self. This passion led me to pursue becoming a therapist and working to help create change and provide support to others.
My goals for you
Upon meeting with a new client(s), I identify what led client(s) to therapy and then collaboratively create goals with client(s) that are within their control
My first session with you
First session covers logistics around therapy, reviewing limits of confidentiality, answering assessment questions, and developing goals.
