My name is Julie Stefan and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Orange County, CA, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in individuals experiencing stress and anxiety/depression due to chronic illness or recovering from a traumatic injury or health condition. Using an eclectic, supportive approach I aim to help my clients feel cared for and to improve their current mood.

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client. I use a variety of different therapeutic techniques to provide support and help you achieve your goals.
My focus
I have found that my style and previous professional experience are a good fit for those dealing with chronic illness or a traumatic injury/medical condition as well as those going through life transitions and experiencing depression/anxiety. I work to help my clients process their injury/medical conditions and to build skills to allow them to reintegrate back into their life in a successful way.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and supportive. I want my clients to feel comfortable sharing their experience and feelings regarding their current life circumstances. I want to create a supportive and judgment-free environment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a social worker because I enjoy helping people in various contexts. I have worked for almost 20 years in the medical setting and have transitioned to individual therapy to provide assistance and support in a more intimate setting. I enjoy seeing people progress through difficult times and discover their strength through their journey.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is about working together to clarify what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust between us. Over time we will work together to set goals and discuss your progress.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend a majority of our time talking about how you have been feeling and exploring why you may be feeling this way. The first session is about connecting with each other and deciding if we are a good match together. We also may talk about some of the goals you wish to meet throughout our time together.
