My communication style

I am a very approachable and warm clinician. My years of experience have taught me to tune into my clients' energy and experience with empathy and compassion.

My journey to mental healthcare

Before becoming a therapist, I was an elementary school teacher. I returned to graduate school to follow the therapist path following my own divorce. I intended to understand and support others going through difficult life transitions. Looking back on the 27 years since that decision, I believe it was the right choice for me.

My goals for you

I am a very direct therapist, and I value clear and constructive communication with my clients. I also utilize homework and outside resources in between sessions to reinforce what we are currently working on.

Our first session

The first session is primarily for assessment, planning, and rapport-building. I ensure that clients know that choosing a therapist is entering into a working relationship. Trust, safety, and relatability are the most important features of this relationship. Once that is established, assessment and goal setting are key elements of a first session.
