Hello, I'm Keri Onan-Levy, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My work with clients is grounded in respect, empathy, reliability, intelligence, and professionalism. My practice focuses on supporting individuals as they navigate life's challenges, process experiences, and work to better understand themselves.
My approach
My approach to providing therapy is unique to each individual. I use a variety of theoretical approaches including Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic Theory, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, Trauma Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. All treatment options are discussed with my clients.
My focus
My work is primarily with adults. My clients are culturally diverse and are seeking support with issues such as, but not limited to: life transitions, grief, relationship issues, self-esteem, family of origin issues, trauma, and identity.
My communication style
As a therapist, I work very hard to establish an environment where the client feels safe enough to share their thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. Respect, empathy, and deep listening are central to my work with clients. I am reliable and genuine, use humor and playfulness, and have a calm and steady presence in the face of strong feelings.
My journey to mental healthcare
My professional development has included a drive to develop strong skills that assist individuals with navigating the challenges, losses, and events of life. I have a deep respect for people and work to use all my life experience and professional abilities to listen fully and deeply to my clients. I have completed three master's degrees which have assisted me in developing a broad base for clinical understanding. It is my privilege to work with people as their therapist.
My goals for you
Goal setting with clients is an ongoing process. Often, we only know "something is troubling or hurting". Once we find a therapist whom we feel we can trust, we often discover there are other issues at play in ourselves. Setting goals continues throughout therapy and involves checking in and honest discussion about whether we as clients feel we are getting what we need.
My first session with you
The first session involves a clinical intake which assists me in having a fuller understanding of who you are and what brings you to seek therapy at this time. The first session is usually a little longer than normal sessions. I intentionally make time for questions, go over consent forms, thoughts you have about goals, what your expectations are for therapy, and the legal limits of confidentiality. This is where the therapy begins.
