Hello. My name is Jennifer Gayman and I have been a clinical social worker for the past 19 years. In that time, as a therapist, I have worked with clients struggling with and facing depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and grief and loss.
My approach
I work with clients to assist in developing coping skills using psychoeducation, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. I want to teach clients to become empowered in order to better manage their emotional and behavioral struggles.
My focus
I have experience working with adults ages 18+ struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and grief/loss.
My communication style
I hope to present an authentic, therapeutic environment in which clients feel validated and less alone.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have known I wanted to provide mental health therapy for most of my life. I realized life is hard without the added struggles of mental health and substance abuse issues and want to be a vessel in their journey to improve their recovery.
My goals for you
I work to meet the client where they are, attempting to zero in on what they most want to work on and may offer resources and homework to clients who are open to it.
My first session with you
Clients should expect the first appointment to be, primarily, assessing their mental health needs and developing their goals for change.
