Hi there, I'm Perry!

Hi, my name is Perry Young, a licensed therapist since 2004 with an MA in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling. I have extensive experience working with families, individuals, and couples using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Structural Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy to address issues related to trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship problems. I work with clients of all ages, from children to the elderly.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that healing and change come through relationships. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy, and Christian Counseling to help clients gain new perspectives, build coping skills, enhance communication, and find resolution. Mutual respect, open collaboration, and ensuring my clients feel understood are the critical foundations I aim to establish in the therapeutic relationship.

My focus

I specialize in treating ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, child abuse or neglect, depression, anger management, grief, and trauma/PTSD. My focus is on serving individuals, minors aged 13-17, couples, and families who are struggling with mental health concerns, emotional challenges, or relational conflicts. I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each client I work with.

My communication style

You can expect me to be an attentive, empathetic listener who offers caring support and practical guidance. I believe in collaborating closely with you, maintaining open lines of communication, and creating a safe space for you to share openly. My style balances compassion with gentle encouragement to help you gain insight, practice new skills, and move toward your therapeutic goals.

My journey to mental healthcare

I was drawn to the mental health field by a deep desire to help people overcome adversity, find healing, and lead more fulfilling lives. Obtaining my MA in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling equipped me with the knowledge and clinical training to provide effective therapy. From 1998 to 2003, I completed my clinical hours for licensure at Valley Teen Ranch in Fresno, CA, where I had the privilege of beginning my journey of walking alongside clients on their paths to well-being.

My goals for you

My goal is to help you develop greater self-understanding, stronger coping abilities, and healthier ways of relating to yourself and others. Whether you are struggling with emotional pain, facing difficult life circumstances, or wanting to enrich your relationships, I will support you in finding relief, creating change, and moving towards a life that feels more meaningful and satisfying. I aim to empower you with the insights and tools to navigate challenges and cultivate a greater sense of well-being.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will discuss what is bringing you to therapy and collaborate to define your therapeutic goals. I will gather information about your current struggles, relevant history, and hopes for our work together. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns, and get a sense of what it would be like for us to work together. My priority is to begin establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship with you and develop a preliminary plan for how I can best support you moving forward.
