Hi, my name is Tomia Bowden and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in the Los Angeles area and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults experiencing various mental health difficulties and life challenges including anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship issues to name a few. Utilizing a humanistic approach, I focus on helping you develop a strong and healthy sense of self through exploring feelings and enhancing strengths.
My approach
My approach to therapy is to meet the client exactly where they are, provide empathy and support, and focus on what is positive.

My client population is Adults. I find that my direct and straightforward approach works best with adults experiencing various situations, changes, and challenges.
My communication style
My communication style for the most part is direct, straightforward, and non-judgmental. I like my clients to feel comfortable in being themselves and expressing themselves openly.
My journey to mental healthcare
After suffering for many years from addiction, low self-esteem, and depression, I found myself in need of help. I was able to find that help through treatment and therapy which led me to my calling; helping others. I found that nothing fulfilled me more than helping others and being a part of their journey towards self-actualization.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is to work with the client to determine what it is you would like to accomplish in therapy. I encourage my clients to set realistic goals and to take small steps towards them daily.
My first session with you
Our first session will consist of developing a therapeutic relationship and building trust. I will ask exploratory questions geared toward understanding why you have chosen to enter therapy at this time. I will take the time to listen empathetically and ensure that you never feel judged and answer any questions that you may have.
