Hi there, I'm Mandy!

Congratulations on taking the first steps towards you. Those first actions towards seeking mental health treatment or help are often the hardest. I like to keep things simple in terms of my introductions to therapy. My principal objective will be to guide you patiently through the process and keep you informed along the way.

My focus

I engage in a client-centered modality. I enjoy providing psycho-education and general information about human development and and then delving into understanding where you see yourself within some of those frameworks.

My approach

I believe in the duality of therapeutic work. It will be a collaborative dialogue between us to develop our treatment style and tone, identify areas of need or goals for your growth, and integrate your strengths. Together, we will settle into a co-created rhythm for therapy.

My communication style

I like to set an informal and warm accepting tone. I am always respectful, sensitive, and validating, and I enjoy the humorous moments that will emerge between us. I am a bi-cultural, bi-lingual Spanish speaker with English as my first language. I speak great Spanglish. Let's give it a try and see how it feels to talk together!

My journey to mental healthcare

I've been a person-centered human since high school. My intuitive drive to be a listener and to witness and support the human experience of others has been a constant force and focus in my career path.

My goals for you

I find it helpful to view setting goals as related to understanding the source of the problem. I like to frame conflicts or distress in terms of what type of problem it is: logistical, practical, historical, or emotional. Learning to decipher the main part of the problem is essential to developing insight and self-efficacy.

Our first session

We will go over informed consent so you can make an informed decision about engaging in a process of self-discovery. I would like our first session to be comfortably informative and not too formal. We shall see how we feel together and determine if another session is a step worth taking.
