My name is Ashley Hill and I'm a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. Whether you know exactly what you want to work on, or you know something is off, but you are not sure what, as long as you want to grow and change, I can help. I enjoy working with clients who are struggling as a couple or family, who want to work on their parent/child relationship, who want to process upcoming decisions, and who are facing transitions.
My approach
I have 7 years of experience working with children, families, adults, and couples to help them achieve their goals. There is no formula that helps every person, because you are unique and your story is unique, that’s why my education in a myriad of training styles will serve you. My favorite approaches to therapy are not limited to but include Gottman Couples Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Attachment-based therapy, and the Trauma Resiliency Model.
My focus
I enjoy working with clients who are struggling as a couple or family, who want to work on their parent/child relationship, who want to process upcoming decisions, and who are facing transitions.
My communication style
It is so very important to feel comfortable with your therapist because being honest with them is being honest with yourself. I work to create a safe, nonjudgmental, warm, and friendly therapy environment, while also providing gentle guidance and reflection to help you grow.
My journey to mental healthcare
My sister died when I was 4 years old, and growing up I developed unhealthy coping habits to deal with her death and many other bumps in the road along my journey. I was first exposed to psychology in high school and realized that some of the poor decisions I made were a result of various traumas I had experienced, including my sister's death, and I was very interested in how to change that. I decided to study psychology in college and found that the more I learned about nature and nurture, the more my life made sense. I began to learn skills to change and grow others during my education and training, and that allowed me to work on myself as well. I hope that I can reach people to help them the way therapy skills have helped me, and the way I have already helped individuals, couples, and families in the last 7 years.
