Hello, my name is Robert Padilla and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Los Angeles, California working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults and I specialize in anxiety, depression, and grief and loss using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help my clients make progress and meet their specific therapeutic goals.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each specific client I work with. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help build an understanding of a client’s reality, which will allow us to work together to creating a clear path toward meeting their specific needs.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults who are going through challenging life experiences or transitions. This can manifest in an individual as anxiety, depression, and stress. I work with clients to navigate through these challenges and transition periods by building and fortifying their coping skills and developing a more positive outlook on life by teaching them how to see their strengths and understand their triggers.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, friendly, and personable. I always provide an open space for clients to express themselves free of judgment or guilt. I always listen first and strive to help clients see their troubles from different perspectives.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I have always had a passion for helping others navigate through difficult situations and experiences. Whether it be as a social worker, volunteering as a coach at local recreation centers, or being a loyal friend, I enjoy working together and overcoming challenges. My ultimate reward is seeing individuals striving for and becoming the best version of themselves.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients focuses on working together to clearly define the goals you want to accomplish during our time together. Building rapport and having trustful therapeutic relationship will ensure our time together is conducive to meeting a client’s specific needs.
My first session with you
During our first session, you can expect us to spend the majority of time talking about how you’ve been feeling recently. I will ask questions to better understand what may be contributing to your current feelings. The first session will be focused on building a therapeutic relationship and how we can work together to help you feel better.
