Hi there, I'm Clint!

Hello, my name is Clint Edwards and I am a licensed clinical social worker. Many don't know this but clinical social workers are regarded as among the most comprehensively educated and trained practitioners in the field of behavioral and mental health. Which is why I chose this discipline-so that I could provide the best possible quality of care to you.

My approach

You are unique and special; so your treatment should be also. I don't believe in the "One treatment fits all" approach. We work together from day one to ensure that your therapy matches your specific needs. I also feel that you deserve to begin seeing results as soon as possible, like within the first few sessions. I call it RRT-Rapid Response Treatment, and depending on what help you need, I will typically utilize the two most effective rapid approaches: EFT tapping and TEAM-CBT.

My focus

I believe that a therapist should be educated, trained and experienced in working with all types of concerns. That's why I went to graduate school for three years full-time (92 units-equivalent to some doctoral programs), have a diverse background of therapeutic experience and continue to remain current on the latest best practice approaches. My main focus is on helping those with mood challenges (anxiety & depression) because studies show these are the two most common conditions. I also specialize in working with individuals with all types of addictions.

My communication style

Studies show that around 60% of successful therapy outcomes boil down to the bond between you and your therapist. Therefore, the best way to build rapport is to mirror my behavior to yours. Meaning, if you're more relaxed, so am I. More upbeat? So am I. My goal, in this regard, is to help you to feel as comfortable as possible while working together.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have had personal experience with mental health challenges since childhood, which followed me as an adult, along with a number of addictions. I've run a successful development company as a real estate broker and general contractor for nearly 40 years. It has been a great enterprise, but I guess I felt I was ready for a new challenge and not ready to retire. Throughout my life, I had helping others, as a friend, with their mental health and addiction concerns and several of them told me I had helped them so much that they encouraged me to become a professional counselor. I began that formal journey in 2015, graduating in 2018. I started working in the industry the moment I commenced graduate school. I began working with children and families in foster care and progressed working with all age groups and categories from children, adolescents, adults, seniors, couples, families, groups, multiple crisis units including residential, forensic (parolees), a psychiatric hospital, hospice, and addiction recovery inpatient, intensive outpatient and outpatient settings. I am now in private practice as a licensed clinical social worker from 2022. I find this work so rewarding and hope I have the privilege of working together to resolve your life challenges.

My goals for you

As a building contractor, I developed and followed a detailed set of plans (blueprints) that covered every trade and specification of the project that fully met the needs of the owner. In therapy, you're the owner; and your treatment goals, like blueprints, must be explored, identified and developed. I've learned that treatment planning is more of a process than an event that occurs at intake. It should be dynamic and evolve to meet the ongoing needs of you the client.

My first session with you

For starters, I always reach out, via text, prior to our initial intake to askif you are available to chat by phone briefly to introduce myself, get better acquainted and answer any questions you may have before our first session. I find this "ice breaker" really helps the actual intake to go much smoother because we've already met and built rapport beforehand. The first session is primarily an information gathering appointment that includes performing an initial assessment and to explore what you'd like to "get" from therapy (goal setting). We also want to establish the schedule we will follow including mutually appropriate day and time for subsequent counseling sessions.
