Hi there, I'm Alma!

I completed my graduate degree at CSUSB with a focus on Clinical Psychology. Since graduating, I have worked in various environments, primarily as an addiction specialist.

My focus

I have worked with individuals struggling with substance use disorders, but also family members and loved ones of those dealing with them. I also have experience working with individuals, children, adolescents, and couples in clinical, community, and educational settings.

My approach

I believe therapy can serve everyone open to it. I also believe that not every therapist is for every person. I strongly believe that positive rapport is crucial to the development of a successful therapeutic relationship. I encourage individuals to be selective and find the right match for them.

My communication style

I strive to make sessions a safe space for each individual; to me, that means allowing the client to set the tone. In session, you can expect me to be my authentic self and create space for a trusting therapeutic dynamic.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have always been intrigued by relationship dynamics and human motivation. What makes people feel connected and seen? What creates disconnection even when we are yearning to be seen? In this field, I have gotten the opportunity to connect and meet people where they are, to promote growth, and to see them bloom into the best version of themselves.

My goals for you

I believe the most impactful change comes from within. That internal motivation is key to meeting any goal we set for ourselves. With that in mind, I encourage individuals to identify their own goals and support them by providing fine-tuning and accountability in that process.

During the initial session, my goal is to get to know you and your motivation to begin therapy. I will share my approach and what you can expect from me as a therapist. Once we make sure we are a good fit, we can move into goal development.
