Welcome! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. Therapy is my passion! I find joy in assisting individuals and couples through different journeys and challenges of life to help them become the best versions of themselves.
My approach
I am a Psychodynamic therapist, but am eclectic in my therapeutic approach. I prefer to to tailor sessions to my clients and their individuality. My style is warm and friendly. I use interventions from a wide range of styles such as, Cognitive Behavioral, Client Centered, Narrative, and Existential. I am interested in getting to the core of the issue and increasing self awareness. My belief is that knowing where the issue started and understanding oneself is key in healing and moving forward.
My focus
I have experience working with different levels of concerns that range from Dissociation to Depression. While Trauma and Abuse are a couple of my main areas of focus, Anxiety and Self-Esteem are also within my scope.
My communication style
My communication style is relaxed and down-to-earth. It is important to me to provide a safe environment in which you are free to express your thoughts and feelings without judgement. We will work together to process those thoughts and emotions to begin your healing journey.
My journey to mental healthcare
My passion for this work stems from my own life's experiences. Having grown up in an emotionally and psychologically abusive household as well as having endured other forms of abuse, I have a unique perspective and understanding of the affects this causes such as depression, anxiety, and self-image issues, just to name a few. What drives me is the desire to help others heal and see the light on the other side. It is possible to be a "whole person" in spite of this history.
My goals for you
My clients complete a Therapy Goals Worksheet after the first session. This gives them the opportunity to really process and identify what their needs are, and how they will know when they have reached those goals. Additionally, this ensures that my clients and I are on the same page and allows me to plan sessions and interventions to meet those needs.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients are free to share their stories with me. We will cover logistics such as limits of confidentiality and scheduling. Clients will also have this opportunity to ask me questions. At the end of the session, we will discuss possible goals. At that time I will share what type of approach I think may be helpful and ask for their input.
