My approach to therapy is strength-based and combines warmth, compassion, and insight with emphasis on practical problem-solving and coping strategies.

My journey to mental healthcare

As a full professor at a large public university, I have educated both graduate and undergraduate social work/human services students for many years. I have also conducted staff training for the county, as well as provided clinical supervision and consultation at various counseling agencies.

My goals for you

I approach goal setting as a collaborative process where the clients ultimately decide on the goals, while my role is to facilitate the process in a way that is beneficial to the clients.

Our first session

During the first session, I will ask clients a few questions about their reasons for seeking therapy, their expectations, and their previous history of therapy. We may also be able to come up with tentative goals for future sessions.
