Hi there, I'm Joshua!

I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, anger management, domestic violence, and abuse/addiction to substances, including alcohol. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

My focus

My therapeutic focus at this time is working with adults as described previously, but I will consider working with people under 18 with collaborative, strength- and hope-oriented support of guardian(s)/caregiver(s). Thank you for being interested in working with me!

My approach

My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, client-centered, and strength-based techniques. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

My communication style

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I have been told that my style is one of unconditional positive regard and highly strength-based and/or encouraging, with the ability to address root challenges with care and compassion.

My journey to mental healthcare

Over 20 years ago, I experienced the unwanted outcomes of deep, unresolved hurts and trauma. I accepted help and know that I was called to pay it forward - and it is now my great honor and joy to do so.

Our first session

Unconditional positive regard. Exploration of challenges and goal setting. Definitely active listening/reflections with care toward clarification and next steps for therapy.
