Hi there, I'm Shellee!

I have been a licensed clinician since 1997, with extensive experience helping others through crises and trauma. My own journey of being graciously helped by a wonderful L.C.S.W. in the 1980s inspired me to pursue this path. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in social work (B.S.W.) from Cal State Long Beach in 1990 and went on to earn my Master's degree in social work (M.S.W.) in 1993.

My approach

My approach to therapy is similar to the one that helped me - client-centered and focused on your individual needs and strengths. Together, we will work to help you feel more comfortable with yourself and better able to navigate relationships in your daily life. I emphasize a holistic approach, striving for balance physically, emotionally, mentally, and in terms of our shared human connectivity.

My focus

I work primarily with adults and the elderly, with the goal of fostering autonomy, independence, and safety to help you live as comfortably as possible. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship frustrations, or other issues, we will explore those areas together.

My communication style

In our sessions, the focus will be on you. I aim to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and validated. Through active listening and collaborative dialogue, we will work to identify your inherent abilities, talents, and inner strengths to help you overcome the challenges you are facing.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to mental healthcare began with my own personal experience of being helped by a skilled and compassionate therapist during a difficult time in my life in the 1980s. The impact of that experience motivated me to pursue my Bachelor's in Social Work at Cal State Long Beach, which I completed in 1990. I then went on to earn my Master's in Social Work in 1993, equipping me with the knowledge and skills to help others in the way I had been helped.

My goals for you

My ultimate goal for you is to help you tap into the hope, strength, and love that already exist inside you. Through our work together, I aim to empower you with the tools and insights to resolve issues, enhance your overall well-being, and live a more fulfilling life on your own terms.

My first session with you

In our first session, we will focus on getting to know one another and establishing a strong therapeutic alliance. I will listen to your story, gather relevant background information, and work with you to identify your primary goals and concerns. This session will lay the groundwork for our future work together, as we collaboratively develop a personalized treatment plan to support your unique needs and aspirations.
