Hello, my name is Giselle Lopez, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with 17 years of experience. I specialize in helping clients with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, and Grief. My passion is to help children, families, and individuals work through their challenges by teaching them new coping skills, working as a team to explore old patterns, and developing new ones to achieve a better balance in our mental health.
My approach
I use several evidence-based therapies, tailoring them to the needs of my clients. Cognitive behavioral therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Art therapy for children are some of the many used. My goal is to create change through a professional therapeutic process.
My focus
My passion is working with children, especially those with Attention-Deficit, Hyperactivity Disorder, and working with their families who are having difficulties with relationship issues and school. I enjoy teaching parenting skills and finding innovative solutions to prepare for parenthood. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults interested in and motivated to create meaningful changes in their lives.
My communication style
My clients would best describe me as warm, welcoming, empathetic, and an active listener. I would ask questions in my sessions, ensuring they were heard, understood, and affirmed. I teach my patients, giving them the tools to succeed. I embrace a multicultural approach and solutions to find healing and growth.
My journey to mental healthcare
My passion for helping others has been the driving force for choosing to become a mental health provider. I love working with children. They are our future, and I marvel at their intelligence.
My goals for you
I am a transparent and empathetic therapist, and I love to teach. I start where the client is, continuously listening actively and implementing coping skills. In our first session, I let my patients know homework is part of their therapy. We all have different learning styles, and implementing our newly learned skills is important for change.
My first session with you
I like building rapport with my patients. This is a very important part of therapy. I want to know who they are, what they like, and how we can work together to help them in their life journey.
