Hi there, I'm Ronald!

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. The decision to seek help for personal or relational issues can be a difficult one. But I want to encourage you that seeking counseling is not an admission of failure, mental dysfunction, or personal weakness, but rather a display of courage and strength! It is the right first step.

My focus

I love working with individuals and especially couples. Through over 35 years of experience, I have learned that no two individuals are alike. Therefore, my approach will be warm and relational, but never therapeutically boxed, as one size does not fit all.

My approach

My approach to counseling utilizes a time-tested, evidence-based therapy known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality therapy, motivational interviewing, and Psychodynamic therapy. Our thoughts and feelings can dictate our behavior. So one of our approaches helps a person discover what, how, and why a person thinks the way they do.

My communication style

My approach is rooted in establishing a strong therapeutic relationship. If you feel I am merely performing my job, you will not like me or trust me. Shame on me if that is ever the case! I want you to know I care about my clients...my friends...those who entrust their lives to me.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have worked in various community shelters, churches, hospitals, and police chaplaincy programs for over 35 years. I have never desired to "do therapy," but to help people. My heart beats for those in need of encouragement, suffering loss, or walking with depression or despair.

My goals for you

I will create ownable, reachable, and measurable goals so you'll recognize change when it happens. This often includes a practical treatment plan with homework, journaling, and self-care interventions to support your progress and growth.

Our first session

Our first session together will often be a time for you to begin to share your concerns and your heart with me. And, it will be an opportunity for you to decide whether we will be a good fit. There will be no pressure, just an opportunity for you to say whatever you need to say without fear, judgment, or criticism.
