Hello! My name is Trish Becker and I have been working as a therapist for over 20 years. In my sessions, I work to provide a safe non-judgemental space for clients to address the concerns that brought them into therapy. Often clients want to understand why they have been feeling anxious or depressed or why they are having issues in their relationships. Clients come into therapy with other issues such as concern about their or a loved one's alcohol or drug use or due to a recent loss or a history of trauma. With my years of experience, I have had the opportunity to support clients through a multitude of issues and feel confident that together we can find ways to address your problems. I love being a therapist and find it to be such an important and rewarding way to spend my work day.
My approach
My therapeutic approach draws from several modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Strength-Based approaches. I tailor my approach to each individual client to best address their unique needs and goals.
My focus
I am experienced in working with individuals struggling with addiction, anxiety, codependency, depression, LGBTQIA+ issues, mood disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem, sexual abuse, stress, trauma, and PTSD, as well as challenges faced by older adults. I aim to provide a safe, supportive space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
My communication style
Clients are often struggling with anxiety or depression and, together, we work on building skills to address these feelings. Having a history of traumatic experiences is common with the individuals I see, and I work at the patient's pace in addressing those issues. I believe in open, honest communication and collaborating with clients throughout the therapeutic process.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been someone who focused on feelings. I see the whole picture when I am with someone and am not only hearing the words they are saying. I believe that I became a therapist as a natural course of things because of how I already interacted with the world. Sitting in my first psychology course in college, Psych 101, hearing the professor discuss psychology, I immediately felt that it was how I looked at things and, therefore, it felt like the perfect fit. I have never looked back or had second thoughts about my career choice and I feel incredibly grateful about that.
My goals for you
My goals for you are to help you gain insight into your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, develop effective coping strategies, process traumatic experiences at your own pace, improve your self-esteem and relationships, and ultimately enhance your overall well-being and quality of life. I am here to support you on your journey of growth and healing.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and begin to explore your history, current challenges, and goals. This is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of my therapeutic style and ask any questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to reach out before we set up an appointment. I look forward to meeting you!
