My name is Melissa Stratton, LMFT#135761. My approach is Christian- faith-based, person-centered therapy, and my focus areas of practice are helping others dealing with anxiety, codependency, chronic illness and chronic pain, domestic violence, stress, and relationship issues.
My approach
My approach to therapy is person-centered, Christian-faith-based Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Interpersonal, positive, supportive, Eclectic, Family Systems, Interpersonal, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused, Trauma Focused, and Strength-based theoretical approaches that I use in my work in therapy.
My focus
I primarily work with individual adults. I help people with domestic violence issues (working with the victims, not the perpetrators), stress, codependency, grief and loss, anxiety, chronic illness, chronic pain, and relationship issues with a faith-based focus.
My communication style
I create a warm, professional, strength-based, supportive, and welcoming environment where I solely focus on the client's needs. It feels like entering a friend's home with a friend who listens and, does not judge, and focuses on helping you during the difficult and good times in the journey called life.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting with a client-centered approach and work with them throughout therapy to help them meet their goals and change goals if necessary. It is a collaborative approach between the client and the therapist.
My first session with you
The first session begins with the introduction of the clinician, going over licensure status, limits of confidentiality, what to expect from therapy, going over any risk limitations of therapy and telehealth, and basic information gathering regarding the problem and relational-family history information that is gathered in the first and subsequent sessions.
