Hello, my name is Jennifer Walker, I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 10 years. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach to therapy tailored to each of my client's individual needs. While we cannot change difficult situations in the past, together we can work to better understand and overcome the challenges you face today.
My approach
As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and to help you overcome the obstacles in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
My focus
I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from therapy for depression, anxiety, and grief counseling to parenting support, couples counseling, and addiction & recovery. I also specialize in mood and personality disorders.
My communication style
My communication style is kind, open, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking to me about anything in a supportive nonjudgmental environment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I originally studied to become a teacher at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA, but later decided to become a therapist after learning the incredible value of doing work in therapy. There is a tremendous amount of teaching within the therapeutic process. In my work, I teach clients to understand unconscious underlying issues that drive and influence current behavior. I also empower clients with coping skills that greatly improve overall functioning and quality of life. The process of psychotherapy often includes exploring painful past experiences, but it is through facing these struggles that we are able to transform and change our lives. I am currently in the final dissertation stage of completing my Ph.D. in Integrative Healing and Therapy Practices. I look forward to meeting you!
My goals for you
Whether you are looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you are ready to move in a different direction in your life, together we will work on a treatment plan to achieve both short and long-term goals.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will discuss the current events happening in your life, your personal history relevant to any issues, and talk about insights gained from any previous work in therapy. The first session is about us building an initial connection and identifying the things you want to work on in therapy.
