Hi there, My name is Vanda Kim. I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have been helping adults with a wide range of mental health concerns including but not limited to depression and anxiety relating to work and relationships with self and others. I have had the joy of meeting people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. My counseling style is non-judgmental and open-minded, focusing on the person and their strengths. I generally use cognitive-behavioral therapy along with mindfulness and humanistic approaches.
My approach
My approach to counseling is cognitive/CBT and strength-based. Person-centered, I offer and encourage mindfulness and self-care practices, along with coping strategies. Self-reflection is a necessary process in understanding the self. I help adult clients from different backgrounds deal with their stumbling blocks.
My focus
I have worked with diverse populations in special education, clinical settings, and private practice, helping clients with depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, family conflicts, motivation, traumas, and self-esteem. I have also helped clients find purpose and meaning in their lives.
My communication style
I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will listen. I have the patience and believe therapy is a safe place to explore all aspects of oneself without fear of judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I began my journey to become a therapist with a yearning to end feelings of unfulfillment and lack of direction. I was fortunate to encounter people who had found it possible to live life with strength and courage. Inspired by their examples, I discovered that I have the power to heal myself. Being a therapist has been a process of undoing and self-discovery.

My first session with you
Please come with an open mind and let go of any preconceived notion of what therapy should be. In the first session, you and I will learn to see if we can connect as we get to know each other. You can ask questions about me or therapy. I will ask questions to understand the problem that brought you to counseling and we will work together to create a plan to best help you.
