Hi, I'm April Gibson Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I genuinely care for my clients and work diligently to help them manage, cope and identify tools they can use immediately, and ultimately find the answers they seek.
My approach
My philosophy is that individuals already have the skills to create change in their lives, and at times need help to identify and develop those skills. My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, collaborative, and compassionate. It encompasses a combination of Mindfulness, Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
My focus
Specific areas of experience include interpersonal and problematic relationships, family conflict, depression, anxiety/panic disorders, mood disorders, substance dependency/abuse, trauma, life transitions, and grief/loss.
My communication style
In the session, I encourage clients to develop a vision of their desired future and I offer support as they determine what's needed to achieve that vision successfully.
My goals for you
I utilize a collaborative approach to goal setting, assist clients in identifying their strengths and resources currently available, explore exceptions, and encourage clients to set a goal that is reasonable as well as achievable.
