Hi, my name is Mike Baron. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My approach to therapy is very client-focused. After all, you are the expert when it comes to you. Most of my career has been focused on active-duty military and Veterans. As a result, I have an extensive background in combat trauma and substance abuse.
My approach
My primary focus is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
My focus
I have a long history of working with both Veterans and active-duty military members. I work with individuals and couples dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, combat trauma, and substance abuse.
My communication style
I am a relaxed, easygoing individual and I bring that approach into my work with my clients.
My journey to mental healthcare
Being a therapist is a second career for me. This journey started for me in the early 2000s after a divorce. I was fortunate enough to have found a great therapist that helped me get through that difficult time and decided that I would like to help people in a similar way.
My goals for you
You are the expert on you. So initially goal setting is simply asking "What would you like to achieve here?" Over time, as I get to know you, I might suggest additional goals or potential modifications to your existing goals.
My first session with you
In our first sessions, I primarily want to start to get to know you, your background, and how you got to where you are now. Additionally, we will address any pressing immediate issues that you may be dealing with.
