As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, I have been practicing as a psychotherapist for over 7 years. My Master's in Social Work focused on Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality and how our different life experiences shape how we navigate our surroundings.
My approach
I specialize in PTSD, MST, mood disorders, grief, CBT, DBT, Trauma-Informed Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy. These are some of my approaches to helping my clients identify their challenges and barriers to their identified problems.
My focus
I work with individuals, couples, teenagers, and adults. My specialties include addiction, alcohol use, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality, codependency, coping skills, depression, dual diagnosis, LGBTQIA+, trauma and PTSD, transgender issues, suicidal ideation, substance use, sexual orientation issues, ADHD, divorce, child abuse or neglect, cultural stress, drug abuse, gender identity, grief, men's issues, mood disorders, peer relationships, thought disorders, self-harming, self-esteem, schizophrenia, relationship issues, psychosis, and personality disorders.
My communication style
I recognize my client's right to self-determination, and I want to empower my clients to collaboratively come up with their obtainable short-term and long-term plans and goals. Let's further explore together how to make better use of the tools we've been working with and perhaps add new tools to the toolbox or not.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to mental healthcare began with obtaining my Master of Social Work degree, where I focused on Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality. I completed my clinical hours for licensure between 11/2016 and 03/2019 at the Department of Health Services in Los Angeles, CA. As a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, I also bring that unique perspective and experience to my work as a psychotherapist.
My goals for you
My goal is to work with you to figure out what is and what isn't working in your life so that we can move in a purposeful direction. I want to empower you to identify your challenges, set obtainable short-term and long-term plans and goals, and collaboratively find solutions using evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to your unique needs.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will begin to explore what brings you to therapy and start identifying the areas of your life you'd like to focus on. My approach is collaborative, so I want to hear your story, understand your perspective, and work with you to determine the therapeutic approaches that resonate best with you. We'll discuss your goals and begin to outline a plan for making positive changes in your life at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
