My name is Laura Ege, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work primarily with mid-career professionals and specialize in workplace and relationship issues, chronic stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I use humanistic and integrative therapies to help my clients process their current distress and begin to heal and grow to reach their full potential.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs and preferences of each client. I most frequently use somatic and mindfulness-based cognitive approaches, as well as incorporating connection with the natural world, as I believe that integrating all parts of a person -- mind, body, and spirit is the most effective way to nurture healing and growth.
My focus
My style and approach are a good fit for mid-career adults who may be dealing with changing family or relationship dynamics at home while also struggling with workplace stressors or a career that feels like not what I signed up for. This often leads to feelings of anxiety, depression, toxic stress, powerlessness, and even hopelessness. I work to help my clients identify belief systems and patterns that keep them stuck, develop more holistic coping strategies, and build on personal strengths to chart a new path forward.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, approachable, and empathetic. I frequently receive feedback that I am easy to talk to about anything, that people appreciate my ability to listen deeply and without judgment, and that my strengths-focused approach leaves people feeling more positive and empowered.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist to fulfill a lifelong mission to facilitate healing and wholeness in the world, for individuals, and in families and communities. Throughout my professional journey, whether as a career and life coach, social worker in the child welfare field, nonprofit program manager, or volunteer in the community, I have always been drawn to helping people navigate difficult times, heal from traumatic experiences, and grow into their full potential.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with a client starts with building trust, helping the client to clarify their vision for change and co-creating goals that support what the client wants to accomplish in our time together. I may offer more structured goal setting and accountability depending on the client's preferred style and desired outcomes of therapy.
My first session with you
The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Clients can expect me to listen to what brought them to therapy and how they've been feeling recently. I will ask questions to better understand the client's situation and goals and make space for the client to ask me questions about the therapy process and what to expect moving forward.
