My journey to mental healthcare
I began my career and love of therapy as a counselor for abused men and women in domestic relationships. I could see how important it was to be a strong supporter, as well as an honest interpreter of clients' needs. I then pursued a bachelor's degree in clinical psychology, which led me to a children's mental health agency. I provided therapeutic care for children aged 0-18, as well as their parents. During this journey, I began the process of obtaining my doctoral degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. I currently hold a Ph.D. (ABD) in this field. I have used this experience to provide consulting for companies struggling with employee dissatisfaction and burnout, and offer ideas on improving the mental health of workers. My love and passion continue to be direct mental health/therapy services.
My goals for you
Successful outcomes include developing realistic and obtainable goals with my client that address their specific needs or objectives. I typically include measurable goals so that both the client and myself can assess their progress.
My first session with you
I start my sessions by introducing myself, my clinical background, my licenses, and a brief personal summary. I then ask what brings them to seek therapy at this time and what are their expectations. I believe healing and change come through developing the therapeutic relationship and I strive to make my clients feel safe, heard, and supported in every session.
