Hello, I'm Chris Cornell, Psy. D., and I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals with a phase of life concerns, relationship problems, and individuals struggling with substance abuse, Depression, and Anxiety.
My approach
I utilize a Cognitive Behavioral approach that is both client-centered and empathic. I believe in meeting my clients where they are emotionally and building a relationship based on compassion and understanding in order to foster a healthy environment for my clients to learn, grow, and become more effective in their lives and to reduce symptoms that may be impacting their ability to function and live life optimally.
My focus
I have worked with adolescents, young and middle-aged adults experiencing phase of life issues, relationship concerns, Depression, Anxiety, and those with histories of complex trauma. I have experience helping individuals address issues related to chemical dependency and substance abuse as well as individuals seeking support and treatment for issues associated with their gender identity.
My communication style
I'm an interactive therapist who believes that growth and healing occur in the space between myself and the client. I try and create a space for the client to express themselves, feel understood, learn, grow, and gain insight and effectiveness in their lives.
My goals for you
Goal setting is an interactive process with my clients. Goals are typically specific, measurable, and time-limited.
My first session with you
In the first session, my client should expect to be listened to, heard, and cared for. We'll have a conversation about what has brought them in for treatment, and what they are hoping to accomplish in our work together.
