Hello, my name is Agueda Cabrera, I am a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. For over two decades, I have worked with individuals and families to help overcome symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress management, PTSD, and family problems.
My approach
I utilize a strength-based approach as well as evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I offer warm and compassionate support and guidance to help clients focus on their strengths rather than their flaws allowing for growth during treatment. I assist clients with identifying and reframing negative thoughts that in the past have contributed to anxiety and depression.
My focus
I typically work with teenagers, young adults, and adults presenting with a variety of symptoms including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, ADHD, unresolved grief, and family problems.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and supportive, with a focus on the client's strengths. I am also very aware of cultural issues.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was always interested in helping people who struggle with mental health issues and family problems. I feel useful when I notice my client's progress and increased ability to overcome their symptoms and improve their level of functioning.
My goals for you
I typically invite clients to identify long-term goals and to develop short-term small, attainable, and realistic goals. I periodically review progress toward goals during treatment with clients to update or modify their needs as the treatment progresses.
My first session with you
During the first session, I typically gather information to complete a comprehensive clinical assessment and to identify client's needs and expectations from treatment. I also prompt clients to identify long and short-term treatment goals.
