My communication style

I have a non-threatening, collaborative style and strive for openness and transparency. I regularly ask clients if our work is helping them. I believe the work is most productive when I help you find your way rather than telling you what to do. I use Motivational Interviewing to help you set goals and find effective ways to meet them.

My journey to mental healthcare

I came to behavioral therapy after a meaningful career in advertising, marketing, and retail management, when I realized I could find far greater psychic reward helping people recover from substance use and mental health problems. I found I thrive on helping others find their way out of these problems and have become committed to this work.

My goals for you

I think the basic rule of therapy work is that the client gets to set the goals. And they may change over time. As a long-time practitioner of abstinence in my own life, I have learned to see the value of harm reduction and working with clients to find the right goals and treatment approaches for them.

Our first session

I will give you enough information about me to make you feel comfortable while focusing on the idea that we're here to talk about you and why you've made the big decision to ask for help. As we continue to meet and learn more about you, our goals may change. And that is part of the therapeutic process.
