Hi there, I'm Cheryl!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 20 years of broad experience, including community mental health, inpatient psych, medical social work, and the school system. I’m here to support you on your journey to mental wellness. I specialize in working with adolescents facing anxiety, depression, stress, and school/family conflict.

My focus

I am particularly interested in serving female adolescents and young adults who need an extra shoulder to lean on while facing emotional challenges, peer pressure, family conflict, and academic/workplace stress that can often become overwhelming. I help my clients explore their emotions, build coping skills, and foster personal growth.

My approach

My approach varies based on your needs. I use Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy to help us develop rapport, understand the problem at hand, and work together toward your goals.

My communication style

My communication style is calming and genuine. I'm easy to talk to and a great listener. I'm non-judgmental and create a space where you feel heard and understood.

My journey to mental healthcare

I began my journey as a therapist by telling my guidance counselor, “I love talking to people and want to help.” She helped guide me to Social Work and I am so glad she did! Growing up, and still true, I was a trusted and loyal friend who was a great listener. I have always naturally been drawn to helping people through difficult times.

I like to develop treatment goals at the start of therapy to help set a direction for future sessions and help you begin to envision your desired outcomes. I assist you in setting specific and realistic goals to guide your journey to a better you.

Our first session

During our first session together, you can expect me to ask you many getting to know you questions and ask you to tell me about yourself so I can better understand you. I will be asking you a lot about how you have been feeling lately and about the short-term goals you would like to set for yourself.
