My communication style

I am a strong interviewer. I ask thought-provoking questions and use that as gathering information and a therapeutic intervention. I establish a therapeutic rapport by validating your perspectives, clear of any negative communication. I refer to your counseling goals throughout sessions.

My journey to mental healthcare

I took a sociology class in my freshman year of college. My professor asked me to work part-time to help her with her PhD dissertation. She told me to volunteer in a social work agency, which I did. I have worked in this career ever since.

My goals for you

I must understand your perspective regarding your main reason for coming to counseling. I work with you in an interview style, in regards to your past and current solutions, and the people involved in the problem-saturated system. Goals are clear, and time frames are established.

Our first session

I start with a professional greeting. My first question might be, What brings you to counseling, and how can I be most helpful. I will ask many questions in regards to your response, concluding with maybe a counseling goal, or a therapeutic homework assignment.
