Hi there, I'm Vickie!

I've been practicing, and my primary focus is helping people with mood and anxiety disorders, especially within the LGBTQIA+ communities.

My focus

The majority of my caseload historically has been members of the LGBTQIA+ communities. I have a great deal of experience with mood and anxiety disorders, enhancing motivation to change, and helping people with relationship or career stressors.

My approach

My approach to therapy is to start where the client is within their change process, utilizing approaches that fit their needs. Most often, I rely on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or other Cognitive Behavioral Therapy models.

My communication style

My style is down to earth and approachable. I recognize the therapeutic process is a difficult one and work to support clients through it.

My journey to mental healthcare

While working on a PhD in English, I realized I was spending quite a bit of time helping students find solutions to their out-of-the-classroom challenges, and many of those challenges were rooted in depression or anxiety. I went on to work in a public mental health agency before getting a Masters in Social Work.

Goal-setting is individualized since every client comes to therapy with unique experiences and challenges.

Our first session

The first session is an assessment to see what goals the client has. It is also a chance for the client to evaluate how well they think we will work together.
