Hi there, I'm John!

Engagement in Therapy/Counseling can be a big step, and with that understanding, I would like to commend you on your decision to start. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Master’s Addiction Counselor, with over 15 years of experience, I am passionate about helping individuals navigate their mental health journeys.

My focus

I am of the belief that there is no "ideal client", every person is best served by being met where they are, considering all circumstances and experiences that have led to engagement in therapeutic/counseling services.

My approach

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process. We all have a place where we are in the present, & we all have a destination we would like to reach. My approach is to work together with you to not only recognize the presenting obstacles & challenges but also to discover the steps we need to take to arrive at your needed and desired destination.

My communication style

I prioritize empathy, active listening, needs assessment, and building trust and rapport, all while remaining mindful of your individual needs and goals.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have had a passion for helping/assisting others most of my life. I have repeatedly witnessed the positive effects of persons engaging in therapeutic/counseling services, and I have also witnessed the negative effects of no intervention or engagement in such services.

My goals for you

I use active listening, motivational interviewing, and needs assessment to recognize your challenges and concerns. We'll revisit progress made towards your thoughts, feelings, and emotional and cognitive challenges throughout our work together.

Our first session

We'll open with comfort, discussing anything you'd like and your interest in therapy. We'll focus on the challenges and concerns you'd like assistance with, building rapport at your pace. Our goal is to establish a treatment plan that serves as your plan of action moving forward.
