My name is Ellen Yu Kinoshita and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have over 20 years of experience working with a wide variety of clients, including children, teens, parents, families, older adults, and veterans. I believe in this day and age, everyone needs some guidance to help deal with struggles life can bring.
My approach
My approach is catered to individuals’ needs and the approach I use will depend on clients’ treatment goals.
My focus
I am comfortable working with a wide variety of clients. I typically work with those who struggle with mental health, substance use, and/or relationship issues. I have also worked with those who have chronic pain, history of trauma, legal issues, and job stress.
My communication style
I tend to create a non-judgmental environment for my clients so they can share openly and honestly. My communication style will be catered to my clients and their needs.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey began when I worked at a foster home for children. The children looked forward to therapy sessions and their mood and behavior improved with therapy. I believe life is difficult and everyone needs a therapist to help improve their ability to cope with issues.
My goals for you
I believe goal setting is an important tool to gauge progress. Clients will be encouraged to think about what their goals for therapy are.
My first session with you
The first session will be used to get some background information and find out what clients would like to accomplish during therapy. It is also a good time to find out if I am the right therapist for you.
