My name is Jason Wisdom, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist residing on the island of Oahu. I enjoy meeting my clients where they're at while developing a solid understanding of one's background. I work with various age groups, including children, adolescents, and adults. I focus on a variety of areas, with anxiety, depression, LGBTQ, and trauma, to name a few.
My approach
I believe in utilizing multiple approaches to best meet my client's needs. I utilize Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Gottman Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Art Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy.
My focus
My client focus is comprehensive, where I see a variety of age levels and varying needs. I focus on an array of areas, including anxiety, depression, trauma, individuals, families, couples, and LGBTQ. I invite you to inquire with me regarding additional focus areas as I am continuously seeking continuing education to best meet my client's needs.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want you to feel at ease while in therapy with me. I am a good listener, and my goal is for you to feel safe enough to easily share your intimate life details with me to allow healing to occur.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been lured by the deeply rooted details of those close to me in life. While going to college, I quickly realized that the social sciences drew me in as discussions took place around human connection, human needs, and human desires. I enjoy seeing my clients grow, and this is what drives me to be a therapist.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is to have an open dialogue about your goals and come up with an action plan with which you feel most comfortable moving forward. This often starts with rapport building between us, and slowly getting acquainted with your individual needs. We will work together during our sessions to monitor goal progression and adjust the goals as needed.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you've been feeling recently and for me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
