My communication style

I tend to modify my communication style based on the rapport I have built with clients. Some clients prefer direct communication while others prefer an indirect approach.

My journey to mental healthcare

I was born into a family that helped others in various forms. My grandmother managed a mission, and I often helped her feed and shelter those who struggled with homelessness. Helping others is all I know; it's literally ingrained in my being. I found my niche in the mental health world, and I am elated to be here.

My goals for you

My approach is client-centered. As a result, in the early sessions, I ask clients what they want to get out of therapy. Based on the response, we collaboratively set goals. I also discuss with client possible barriers that they may face and how to address them.

Our first session

For the first session, I ask what prompted the desire to seek therapy. I ask general questions about mental health history, upbringing, and social supports. I offer information about how I facilitate sessions and my background. I end the session with giving clients the opportunity to ask any questions that haven't been addressed.
